The GImpSI project aims to design a system that allows monitoring and managing the effects of salinity deposited on the insulation of high voltage substations. This allows, among other benefits, the developed system to indicate the ideal times for equipment washing, which reduces the risk of failures caused by the accumulation of salinity. Other objectives associated with the project are: to allow the effective management of the effects of salinity, ensuring operational safety and equipment integrity; to allow monitoring of corona discharge activity in equipment by direct daytime optical inspection, as well as their thermal behavior through thermography; to point out correlations between factors that impact the performance of insulation, such as salinity, leakage current, corona discharges, thermal behavior, and weather conditions (humidity, temperature, wind speed, and direction). The project is carried out in partnership with the INESC P&D Brasil network. In this context, the LASSE team collaborates with the development of software and hardware for signal acquisition, wireless communication, and integration with platforms for monitoring and managing IoT devices.
